The first exam session ends at the Higher Institute of Arts and Crafts of Mbujimayi

The Higher Institute of Arts and Crafts (ISAM) of Mbujimayi ended its first exam session on a note of originality and creativity. Students from several programmes, including Fashion Design and Garment Technology, presented their work to a jury of lecturers and industry professionals.

Going well beyond a simple academic assessment, the exercise became a true showcase of the students' skills. The pieces presented — from modern fashion designs to outfits inspired by cultural heritage — reflected the ingenuity and artistic sense of the young generation trained at ISAM.

For the students, this assessment is a springboard towards professional life. Many said they saw the experience as a first step towards entrepreneurship and towards promoting local fashion.

The close of the exam session thus highlighted ISAM's ambition: to make its graduates key players in cultural and economic development through fashion and the arts and crafts.

Final-year project defences begin on Tuesday 2 September 2025 on the Lycée Tuya Kumpala campus.
