The LONA Foundation launches a special scholarship to encourage women's excellence at ISAM Mbujimayi

To promote excellence, fair access to education and the empowerment of young women, the LONA Foundation, under the patronage of the First Lady of the Republic, Ms Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, held a selective competition on Wednesday 2 September 2026 at INPP/Mbujimayi for female students of the Higher Institute of Arts and Crafts of Mbujimayi (ISAM).

Supported by the leadership of ISAM's Director General, Professor Peter Ngala Ntumba Kabashadi, this major initiative aims to award special excellence scholarships to the most deserving students.

The aim is to reveal, support and promote women's creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation in Mbujimayi in particular and in Kasai-Oriental as a whole.

The competition was open to three forward-looking programmes that are pillars of women's entrepreneurship:

second-year Bachelor's students in Fashion Design, Garment Technology and Beauty Therapy.

After the tests, the participants expressed their deep satisfaction and gratitude for this unique opportunity to showcase the potential and expertise of ISAM Mbujimayi. They thanked the First Lady for the initiative and ISAM's Director General for his support.

The Director General's office welcomes this strategic and fruitful partnership with the LONA Foundation, which brings to life Professor Peter Ngala Kabashadi's vision: “To make ISAM Mbujimayi a centre of excellence and a true incubator for independent women entrepreneurs.”
