Body shapes and facial care: an inspiring talk on daring to be yourself

The Higher Institute of Arts and Crafts of Mbujimayi hosted a cross-programme talk on Friday 19 June 2026. Led by Natasha Kabanga and Cécilia Lusamba, third-year Bachelor's students in Beauty Therapy and Garment Technology respectively, it was a valuable opportunity for students to share experiences, learn and build their networks.
During this academic exchange, two strong themes sparked discussion between the audience and the speakers.
“Knowing your body shape: a symbol of freedom and self-affirmation”.
The first theme started from one question: what if understanding your body were the first step towards self-affirmation? Cécilia Lusamba, the Student Union president, invited participants to challenge imposed norms in order to reveal their authenticity. She added that body shape is not a constraint but a personal language that defines who we are.
Natasha Kabanga spoke on “Facial care: an essential habit for the health and beauty of your face”. She reminded participants that caring for your face is above all a matter of health, and explained how these everyday routines combine inner well-being with outer radiance.
The talk ended to the satisfaction of all participants, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
