Teaching assistant Pétronille Mutoba brilliantly defends her DEA dissertation at ISP Bukavu

On Wednesday 15 April, teaching assistant Pétronille Mutoba of ISAM Mbujimayi presented her postgraduate research at ISP Bukavu. Her work, entitled “Designing Tailor-made English Teaching Materials for Third-form Dressmaking Learners in Mbujimayi Secondary Schools”, was very well received by the professors on the jury. She obtained her Advanced Studies Diploma (DEA) in English language teaching with highest distinction.

In her study, she looked at the language needs of third-year technical pupils in cutting and sewing in Mbujimayi. To help them, she created a specialised English textbook directly linked to their trade, which lets pupils learn the technical vocabulary of sewing in a practical way. By connecting English with learners' professional reality, she makes teaching more motivating and more effective.

For ISAM Mbujimayi, this success is a source of immense pride, as it strengthens the quality of teaching at the Institute. Ms Mutoba's research shows that learning English is an essential tool to help Mbujimayi's future fashion professionals succeed on the international market — a major contribution to training an elite capable of shining beyond our borders.
