The Higher Institute of Arts and Crafts celebrates nine years in Mbujimayi

On Thursday 2 April 2026, the city of Mbujimayi celebrated a major moment: the ninth anniversary of the Higher Institute of Arts and Crafts (ISAM). Held at the Hôtel Métropole, the ceremony drew an exceptional turnout, marked by the presence of Tina Salama, spokesperson for the Head of State. In a packed hall, the event highlighted the journey of an institution that has become a pillar of vocational training in the Greater Kasai region.
Opening the proceedings, the Director General, Professor Peter Ngala Ntumba Kabashadi, praised the progress ISAM has made in nine years and reaffirmed its mission to train skilled, creative young people. Vice-Governor Augustin Kayembe Mulemena, who officially opened the event, recognised the Institute's strategic role in the province's development. Speeches by student and alumni representatives also bore witness to the real impact of the training on employment.
The highlight of the day was Tina Salama's address on entrepreneurship and the empowerment of young people, especially women. “Here you learn trades that create wealth. Dare to create, dare to start your own business,” she said, calling on students to become drivers of development. Her message resonated strongly with an attentive, engaged audience.
The ceremony continued with a showcase of students' skills through artistic performances and a fashion show, and ended with the presentation of diplomas to former ISAM students.
