Breast cancer and feminine hygiene discussed at a talk at ISAM Mbujimayi

To encourage scientific sharing and enriching discussion, the Higher Institute of Arts and Crafts of Mbujimayi, through its Fashion Design department, organised a talk and debate last weekend on the theme “Women's reproductive health: intimate hygiene and reducing the risk of cancer (breast, cervix)”. The event featured two speakers, Dr Antoine Bambi Ntumba and Dr Lisa Ndelela.
The talk focused mainly on understanding the basics of women's reproductive health, including anatomy, the essential functions of the female reproductive system, the most common disorders and strategies for preventing them. Intimate hygiene, regular gynaecological check-ups and educating girls to promote good reproductive health from adolescence were highlighted as essential to preventing disease.
On the one hand, the event raised participants' awareness of the importance of knowing their own bodies and encouraged them to adopt preventive habits against the risk of reproductive disorders.
On the other, it encouraged an open, taboo-free conversation about reproductive health, a subject that is often misunderstood or neglected.
The speakers urged young women to get to know their bodies, listen to them, respect them and never be ashamed to ask questions about their health, because knowledge is the first form of protection.
